On Thursday, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO's worth increase above $100bn. 

Zuckerberg crossed the line when shares (FB) of his social network experienced a boom. Two other men, Amazon (AMZN)’s Jeff Bezos and Microsoft (MSFT)’s Bill Gates, have bigger personal fortunes.

Mark Zuckerberg co-founded Facebook Inc. from his Harvard dorm room in 2004, and his biggest asset is still his 13% stake in the company, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which monitors the world’s wealthiest people.

Mark Zuckerberg is also Facebook’s chairman and controlling shareholder.

The 36-year-old's wealth got its latest bump as Facebook’s stock climbed 6.5% Thursday, a day after the company launched its TikTok clone, Reels, on Instagram.



Michael Ojo, a Nigerian Basketball player abroad has died at the age of 27 during a training session in the Serbian capital on Friday.

Igor Vujicin, Red's Star spokesperson told AFP “We are deeply saddened by the news”

The late Nigerian basketball player was born in Lagos. With an amazing height of 2.16 metre (7ft 1in), he played for Florida State University in the United States before coming to Europe to start his professional career.

Red Star’s spokesperson has not confirm the cause of Michael Ojo's death. However, some local media has reported that Ojo suffered a heart attack.

After being a team player at the Belgrade team FMP Zeleznik, Michael Ojo then moved to European giants Red Star, where he spent two seasons and quickly rose to become the fan's favourite. Michael Ojo has been without a club since June 30 but was still training with Red Star.

Red Star has released a statement after  the announcement of the loss of Michael Ojo, 
“The sudden and shocking death of Michael Ojo has deeply affected everyone — players, coaches and the management of a club that accepted him from the first day, and that he considered his own”

Some football fans are not impressed with the nominations announced for the  2019/2020 Premier League Young Player of the Season award.

The list was released on Friday, 7th August and comprises of Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool, Jack Grealish of Aston Villa, Mason Greenwood of Manchester United, Dean Henderson of Sheffield United, Anthony Martial of Manchester United, Mason Mount of Chelsea, Christian Pulisic of Chelsea and Marcus Rashford of Manchester United.

The Lagos State Government has made more clarifications on school resumption. 

The state Commissioner for Education, Folashade Adefisayo confirmed that Junior Secondary School (JSS) 3 students, who are registered for National Examination Council, NECO, Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) are the ones expected to resume on Monday, August 10.

JSS 3 students preparing for NECO are allowed to resume from August 10 as their examinations are scheduled to begin on August 24

Madam Folashade Adefisayo pointed out that other JSS 3 students preparing to write BECE organized by the Lagos State Examinations Board would be informed of the scheduled dates for their examination.

The Commissioner for Education in the State emphasized that all COVID-19 protocols must be maintained by both private and public schools, warning that government officials will be making visits to ensure compliance.

According to the Commissioner for Education, the washing of hands, wearing of face masks and the maintenance of social distancing must be adhered to.

The Lagos State Government reopened schools after instructing SS 3 students to resume on August 3, to enable them to prepare for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and NABTEB.
